Introducing daily pauses.

The pace of life in today’s world is faster than ever. Our minds are in overdrive as we rush to the next thing on our schedule.  When we live this way, day in and day out, everything starts to blur together.

Introducing small daily pauses into your routine is a game-changer.  Pausing between activities allows your mind to reset before moving on.  When you intentionally pause, you can better recall and compartmentalize the segments of your day, stay present and be more proactive rather than reactive.

Here are some examples of productive pauses that sharpen your mind:

  • Sitting in your car a minute or two before starting your day

  • Grabbing your beverage of choice between meetings

  • Taking a few deep breaths or stretching between calls

  • Taking a 5-minute walk after a meal or a tense discussion

  • Listening to a motivational song before tackling a tough project

Here are some examples of non-productive pauses that exacerbate brain fog:

  • Social media scrolling between meetings

  • Catching up on texts between calls

  • Gossiping in the breakroom after a tense discussion

  • Multi-tasking while on a call or in a meeting

If you have a hard time clearing mental clutter or feel like you’re stuck on autopilot, try introducing productive pauses into your daily routine.  These micro-breaks may seem insignificant, but they will amplify your inner voice, allowing you to draw upon your intuition and experience base to work smarter and more effectively throughout the day.
